The crowd here when I went sucked. Very judgy vibes which I didn't expect from such a young crowd that likes to pride themselves on diversity and liberalism. The service was wonderful nonetheless and the food was delicious.
Interior sparse but if you like that ok. Had mac & cheesee & was delicious. Local beers & looked like drinks were good....great ice & bartenders added nice touches....grapefruit butterflies or roses .
Showed up at 11am. Food wasn't being served until 11:30. No worries! They were open for drinks. We needed a drink, and to sit and talk about what we would do in this first time visited city. At 11:25 people started showing up, and though i had been hoping to get menues, and order one of the scones in the display case, i couldn't get their attention. After watching menus handed out to two tables newly arrived, i stopped a young man (maybe in training by our waitress) and asked for menus. He delivered them to another table. I stopped him again to ask for menus. After getting menus and being ready to order, we noticed standing at the bar (five feet away from us) our waitress eating. One table had ordered. It was only 11:31, but we were hungry enough to wait half an hour. After our waitresses third bite, i asked her for the check (remember five feet away). When she brought it, I told her we had been very hungry to wait so long, we just didn't realize we would then have to wait on her to finish eating. They all (three huddled) exchanged disgusted looks at me. Sad, because my wife really loved her spicy margharita and had wanted a second!
Try the macaroni and cheese. Best I ever had! Upscale, quiet atmosphere.
I went to Bar Saint George for lunch with my family (wife, 2 young children, and my wife’s parents) and it was a pretty awful experience. We arrived at 12:15 and the staff seemed unprepared for lunch service. We were sat and only given 2 lunch menus and no drink menus. It took 15 minutes for the waiter to come back with more menus and then we had to wait another 10 minutes to order our drinks. When the waiter was ready to take our lunch orders he was unable to answer questions about the standard menu items or daily specials because he said that the wait staff was not allowed to taste what the specials are and did not know the menu. Once we ordered our lunches (2 orders of the chicken tacos, 2 orders of the pasta, 1 kids cheeseburger with fries) we sat and waited. And waited. And waited. My wife and mother-in-law were never asked if they wanted another drink and we were not checked in on while we waited. It took an hour for our food to show up and when it it it was terrible. The pasta was cold, the kids cheeseburger had no cheese and was over cooked and the bun was stale. I told the waiter about the missing cheese on the cheeseburger to which he did take $1 off the price but the damage was already done. After we got our checks the manager came by to ask if our lunch was anything less than great and I told her of our experience. She asked if I had told our waiter to which I told her I didn’t have the chance because we never saw him. She took the price of the kid’s cheeseburger off the bill which was nice, but given the choice I will not be returning to Bar Saint George again. Oh, and there were flies. So many flies.
