I took two different Donald Judd tours and had two different experiences.

He didn't understand that the human mind can only hold so much things at one time, and breathing space is necessary to have a thoughtful dialogue about what we guest are not experts in.

You can walk here from basically anywhere in town. It's a really fun tour to do whether you're a Judd fan or not. Looking into an artist's domicile and work space like that is always cool and he lived in a very interesting way. His archive collection is amazing and you get to see some works and his living area as well.

Be careful before you buy tickets - you may actually be looking for the Chinati Foundation (not the Judd Foundation). They do not give refunds, partial or otherwise, or exchanges for tickets purchased.

The older tour guide would get mad if you asked a question to something he already answered.

The four stars are for the younger guide.

However, the second tour was rapid. He did not pause nor give time for questions. Rather, you had to stop him midway and ask a questions. Sometimes you were met with what appeared to be agitation, and other times with blanket statements. This guide was older and wore cowboy boots and a hat.

The first tour was wonderful, for the guide took time for questions and provided researched based explanations. He was able to inform between fact and inferences. This guy was a younger gentlemen.

Don't drive all the way down to Marfa without visiting his studio (don't ask whom). Perfect combo with the Chinati foundation.

Learn the history of Judd's relationship with Marfa. A great introduction to start your visit into town.

The younger tour guide was modest. The guide would let you know what was the extent of his thinking rather than a blunt statement.
